Special Issue – Zine Your Thesis – June 2026

This zine was produced during a Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities Zine Your Thesis workshop in June 2026 in Glasgow (Scotland). Organised and run by Riffs co-Managing Editor Iain A. Taylor, the session brought together six PhD researchers from universities across Scotland as part of a writing and zine making workshop. This special issue contains personal reflections on faith, the ethics of disturbing the archives, and returning to natural, seasonal patterns as a means to understand the everyday lives of neolithic communities. In finding our ways through doctoral research, the contributing authors to this special issue of Riffs also consider human messiness in relation to algorithm-focused research, the queer potential of historical literature, and how writing through thoughts and inspirations seemingly tangential to our doctoral topics may lead to new ways of seeing, thinking, or writing.
